The Bumper is a good first spur choice for the young or inexperienced rider as it eliminates the need to turn a foot out of position. It is also great for the timed event horse in competition as it will move the horses rib cage and keep him from dropping his shoulder into a turn. This spur is also excellent for obtaining that little extra response to cues needed when trail riding. Because of the width and lip at the bottom edge of this spur, the Bumper spur stays in place on your boot.
